Reaching out, Connecting
What CoCC Advocates Do -
2. Reaching out, Connecting
2. Reaching out, Connecting
As an advocate for Christian caring in your community, you reach out to your friends, fellow church members and other people in your community, establishing relationships, determining who are those that could use a little help and who are those that would be willing to help meet simple needs. Your joy in serving God and our fellow man will be a great inspiration to others who are also needed and ready for this work.
To borrow a phrase from Mary Baker Eddy, we have been brought together “to minister and to be ministered unto…” The resources noted below should help you share information about CoCC with a friend or even give a short presentation to members of your church community.
Here are some ideas for reaching out!
The Bible
“For if there be first a willing mind, it is accepted according to that a man hath, and not according to that he hath not. For I mean not that other men be eased, and ye burdened: But by an equality, that now at this time your abundance may be a supply for their want, that their abundance also may be a supply for your want: that there may be equality:” (II Corinthians 8:12–14)
Science & Health
The rich in spirit help the poor in one grand brotherhood, all having the same Principle, or Father; and blessed is that man who seeth his brother’s need and supplieth it, seeking his own in another’s good. (S&H 518:15–19)
