Learning, Organizing
What CoCC Advocates Do -
3. Learning, Organizing
3. Learning, Organizing
Helping with simple needs most often involves companion care as opposed to skilled Christian Science nursing. Although that sounds simple, there are some helpful and important skills, including ethical considerations, that can make for a more joyful experience. Learning together can often be more fun. Many of the resources available on this website are geared for either individual or group learning, such as, “The Art of the Visit” online webinar.
Sometimes a group effort is needed, which could involve some planning and coordinating. Knowing people you can call upon and who are knowledgable on what to do is very helpful.
Here are some ideas for learning and organizing!
The Bible
“Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: For I was an hungered, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in: Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me.”
(Matthew 25:34–37)
Science and Health
“If we would open their prison doors for the sick, we must first learn to bind up the broken-hearted. If we would heal by the Spirit, we must not hide the talent of spiritual healing under the napkin of its form, nor bury the morale of Christian Science in the grave-clothes of its letter. The tender word and Christian encouragement of an invalid, pitiful patience with his fears and the removal of them, are better than hecatombs of gushing theories, stereotyped borrowed speeches, and the doling of arguments, which are but so many parodies on legitimate Christian Science, aflame with divine Love.” (S&H 366:30)
